If you’d like to author posts on the website (as opposed to just here in the forums), let me know! 

I’ll need to grant you “Author” status.  Then, you post!  Instructions for posting below.

A special Thank You to Chris and Scott for kicking off the process.  It started with their forum posts which made excellent article material. I have thus upgraded them from regular “Member”, to “Author” status.  They now have the ability to post to the website and not just the forums.

ONCE WE GRANT POSTING RIGHTS:  To post, you’d go to http://fusionenergyleague.org/admin.php  and log in.  Same log in info as the forums. 

*Sometimes it doesn’t let you log in if you’re already logged in on the forums, so you’d have to log out first. Sometimes it doesn’t matter.  If your status is “Member” you won’t see the stuff we’re talking about below.

In any case, Authors - log in. 
You’ll see some tabs on the left:  “Content” - Click on that,
and then click on “Publish” > “Blog”

Hey presto, the new entry form should open up: (Note the form is under another “Publish” Tab).  Fill in form:

Title:  title of article
Summary: keep it short
Body:  can be long.  Images, etc. Some html is helpful, although those buttons are supposed to facilitate with some formatting. 
Sidebar:  This is the stuff that ends up on the right side of the post.
Action:  What action do you want people to take? Include a few short suggestions.

Other tabs to open and fill:
Categories:  for example, an article on PPPL breakthrough for use with Magnetic Fusion, scroll down to “contenders” and check the “Magnetic” box; For the OSU post and inertial lasers, check “Inertial”. 
Forums:  you can simultaneously set up a forum post when you post to the blog.
*  Title (it can be unique, or the same as the article)
*  Text:  A few words would be fine, a link, perhaps. 
*  Select forum:  you need to choose which forum to post this to via the drop down menu.
OR: 
*  In the case of the OSU article, all you need is the Forum Topic ID (for OSU, it was 33) to put in the “forum topic ID” field - below the other fields. 

Editorial Suggestions:

Action Section
What is the purpose of articles? We want to share the information, but also work it into the broader strategy of furthering fusion. 

The Action section is useful here.  To build a social media movement around fusion, we want people to get into the habit of tweeting and facebooking about it.  This requires a bit of prompting. 

Start simple.  When you report a story, there are several people involved:
*  the subjects of the article (the scientists and lab that the news is about)
*  The folks who shared the news.

The first thing to do is to track down their twitter or FB handles and tell people to follow/like them. 

For example:  “Follow @PPPLab on twitter and send them your congratulations!”
Bonus points for adding the link to @PPPLab - make it easy for the reader!  Some html knowledge required:

If you can think of more actions, add them on!  Make it easy for the reader to do something.

It can be Fun and serious.  “Join local OSU HEDP softball club” “write letter to senator” (if there is a specific call for it from the group you’re writing about.)
