Rethink Nuclear Fission.  Watch Pandora’s Promise with your favorite fracktivists and let the conversation unfold.

I had the privilege of watching Pandora’s Promise at the IFC film center May 7, 2013 with director Robert Stone in attendance for Q&A.  I have also seen the film with a group of my fracktivist friends.  Excellent conversations followed.

The film has since opened nationwide.  It will be available on CNN Films on November 7 at 9 pm ET, and you will be able to get it on iTunes on December 3.

It’s best to see with a group of people and discuss afterwards.  I therefore urge you to Create a Tugg Event to host the film in your area.  Tugg is a great new internet initiative that helps you bring your favorite movie to a theater near you.  What a wonderful world.  Back to Pandora:

Take your friends and see it!  Check out the trailer:

The recent reactor meltdowns in Japan have ignited passionate worldwide debate about energy and the future of nuclear power. PANDORA’S PROMISE is a feature-length documentary that explores how and why mankind’s most feared and controversial technological discovery is now passionately embraced by many of those who once led the charge against it. The film is anchored around the personal narratives of a growing number of leading former anti-nuclear activists and pioneering scientists who, in the face of considerable controversy, are directly challenging the anti-nuclear orthodoxy that is a founding tenet of the mainstream environmental movement. Their stories and ideas will be brought to life through a combination of incredible archival footage from 1945 to the present and original filming across the globe.

Not a Moment Too Soon!

Atmospheric CO2 has surpassed the 400ppm milestone, and we need all the power we can muster to take back the greenhouse.

Impact

This film is the perfect tool for the job of changing the conversation on energy.  It shakes everything up.  Since watching the film I find myself well equipped to:

  1. Rethink the fusion strategy to better integrate with fission;
  2. Engage in conversations with nuclear advocates about how to launch an inclusive “Big Hairy Nuclear Plan”;
  3. Bring nuclear advocates and fracktivists together to take down the old fossils;
  4. And more!

How about you?

On top of this, the recent Games for Change Festival has inspired me to add a gaming dimension to the endeavor, and the launch of the Richard Branson’s BTeam opens up another brilliant avenue of movement.  This energy-poverty-environment chess game keeps getting more winnable by the second!
