Information Is Beautiful has put together an eloquent infographic:  The Billion Dollar Gram.  “Billions spent on this, billions spent on that, it’s all relative, right?”

Annual fusion R&D in the US to date is far less than a billion dollars a year. It doesn’t even merit a square on this infographic.

The ASP white paper proposes a $35Billion fusion budget for the next two decades which would cover ITER obligations as well as a broad suite of alternatives.  In other words, the TOTAL funding required for the fusion program for the next two decades is less than ONE Beijing Olympics.  (Granted, that was an impressive show).

Meta Conversation Financing Fusion

Take action!

Thanks @infobeautiful & @danhahn for great graphics!

Develop some infographics that drive home how little is spent on fusion R&D.  Contrast with upside.  What is the Return on Investment (ROI) of a war?  What is the risk against war ROI (include human life, PTSD)?  How does that compare with fusion Risk and ROI?  Several graphics will be required to tell the whole story.

Contemplate priorities.
