War on Drugs v. Quest for Fusion

More perspective on how little we spend on fusion research.
According to this chart by documentary filmmaker Matt Groff, the US “war on drugs” not only costs a lot, it has done almost nothing to curb the drug addiction rate since 1970. What’s really sad about this is that over the same time period, US spending on fusion added up to less than $30Billion. In other words, less than $500M a year, so below the bottom line on this chart. Imagine how far we would be with fusion if drug war money was spent there instead.
